Quick Answer
ROBOTIS OP3 (DARwIn-OP3) is a kid-size open humanoid — about 510 mm tall, about 3.5 kg without the skin, 20 degrees of freedom. Distributors still quote it. That makes it more “real” than most 9.0 stencil pages, and it is still a soccer/education machine, not a labor humanoid.
Our Verdict
| Field | Rating | Notes |
|---|---|---|

| Education usefulness | 8.0 / 10 | Open, documented, actually sold. |
| Commercial readiness | 6.5 / 10 | Distributor quotes. No single stable public MSRP on our card. |
| Consumer readiness | 3.0 / 10 | Hobby/education, not a home employee. |
| Autonomy confidence | Onboard soccer/education stack | Not general work. |
| Best for | RoboCup-style labs and teaching | |
| Biggest concern | SERPs that file OP3 next to Atlas |
What it is
The third-generation ROBOTIS kid-size open platform. DYNAMIXEL actuators, open software, a body you can carry under one arm.
What is published
ROBOTIS manuals, many distributor pages, 13 reference links and several videos on our profile. Price still wants a current quote — we will not invent a dollar figure.
Flaws
20 DOF and 3.5 kg is a research toy in the nicest sense. It will not carry a tote. The old autonomy-scale paragraph was the same one used on Valkyrie.
Real-world usefulness
High for teaching gait, vision and RoboCup. If you outgrew OP3, NAO is the other education biped on this site — different company, different price class, still not a factory robot.
