What Omni is for
X-Humanoid — Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics, 北京人形 — already had a family: TianGong 1.x, 2.0, 3.0. Omni is the small one. Sina, 20 August 2026, said the on-stage unit was 1.35 m and 39 kg, aimed at tight spaces, emergency rescue, and future home service, with a secondary-development stack left open: joints, sensors, system, motion-control API. CEO Xiong Youjun told reporters Omni was not late to a crowded field because the company does not intend to slug it out with Songyan (Noetix) or EngineAI on the same consumer toys. The words were “standard platform” and “not compete directly.”
Take him at his word and Omni is a body other people write code on. That is a different buying motion than “send us a nurse.” It is also a convenient way to launch without a price.
The week’s other TianGongs
Gasgoo’s WRC write-up, 21 August 2026, put two X-Humanoid products on the table: Pelican-Unify, a software/brain stack, and Omni, the light body. The same week TianGong 3.0 played “silicon-based product specialist” at a Mercedes-Benz tie-in — a full-size unit doing reception and car talk. That is 3.0. Do not steal 3.0’s photo for this page. We did not. Our featured frame is the launch stage with 天工Omni on the wall.
Tiangong Ultra is a third machine. It is the one that ran the 100 m at the World Humanoid Robot Games. Height and mass are not Omni’s 1.35 m / 39 kg. If you landed here from a Games recap, leave.
What the booth actually showed
Gasgoo: Omni on plum-blossom piles, stairs, avatar interaction, and an office printing task. That is a mobility-and-demo list, not a payload table. A 39 kg biped that can take a stair is useful in a corridor that a 90 kg wheeled G1 cannot enter. It is still 39 kg of falling mass. X-Humanoid has not published a certified safe-home claim we will repeat.
DOF, battery, arm payload, compute, and price stay unknown on our card. We will not invent a 20 kg carry or a four-hour pack because the family average looked tidy.
Hardware, as far as the photos go
White shell, black joints, black hands, a square-ish head with a green face panel on the launch unit. Smaller than the presenter. That matches 1.35 m better than it matches 3.0’s 1.70 m. The open-base story — Huisi Kaiwu ecosystem in Gasgoo’s English — is software and interfaces, not a carbon-fiber fact we measured.
Who should consider Omni
Labs and integrators who want a lighter TianGong-family body and who will write their own stack. People building tight-space demos. Not a warehouse lead. Not a consumer. Not someone who meant Ultra or 3.0 or Unitree H1.
Strengths
- Two numbers that independent Chinese press actually printed: 1.35 m, 39 kg.
- Open-API pitch is specific. Xiong said they want other firms on the platform.
- Size is the point. This is one of the few 2026 WRC bipeds that is honestly small.
- Launch photo is labeled. We did not have to guess from a generic white robot.
Limitations
- No price, payload, DOF, or battery we will quote.
- Booth mobility is not a rescue deployment.
- Name collision inside the TianGong family is already a mess (Omni / 3.0 / Ultra).
- Home-service language is future tense.

Against TianGong 3.0: 3.0 is the full-size, Mercedes-week greeter. Omni is the 39 kg sibling. Against Ultra: different machine, different job, Games medal. Against Unitree H1: H1 is a Hangzhou full-size athlete. Omni is a Beijing open base that does not share a chassis. Against Noetix Bumi: Bumi is a ~98 cm consumer/edu toy. Omni is a 1.35 m research body. Xiong named Songyan as a company he is not trying to undercut on that turf.
