Company and trade copy (Gasgoo, citing UBTECH) names domestic Digua S100P and S600 compute, ROSA, a VLA stack, 360-degree omni wheels, 3D vision, and “over four hours” on a high-capacity pack. Those are named-source company figures, not a cycle-time study. Third-party cards that print 170 cm / 90 kg / 10 kg / $55,000 are marked unverified. I am not promoting them to facts.

What it is
Y1 is a mobile manipulator that happens to have a humanoid chest and a cartoon face on a black visor. The work is in the column and the base: raise the torso to a shelf, drop it to a pallet, roll to the next station. Official Chinese copy lists four jobs — autonomous depalletize/palletize onto roller lines and racks; keep working when a stack slumps or a box is missing; pick mixed/irregular goods; load and unload CNC and injection machines. That is a process list, not a brochure about “general purpose.”

UBTECH. Cruzr is the wheeled family. Walker is the legged family. If your integrator sends a biped photo labeled Y1, they have the wrong SKU.

What it can actually do
In public: pick a tote, build or break a pallet, roll, lift. The OPPO-expo cell and the WRC booth are the evidence. Continuous three-shift work, mixed SKUs, and a crushed-box Tuesday are not in the public record. UBTECH says the SDK, vision, arm control, and multi-robot scheduler are open to the factory stack. That is the right offer. It is also where most of these projects die — not in the wrist, in the WMS.
Flaws
Wheels only work on the floor you have. A mezzanine stair, a dock plate, a wet film of oil, and Y1 is a statue. The lift column is a single-purpose gift and a single-purpose limit: great for totes, useless as a walker in a human aisle with a curb. Company runtime “over four hours” is not a 21-hour battery-swap story unless they also sell the swap. And there is still no MSRP, so “cheaper than a biped” is a feeling, not a quote.
Real-world usefulness
This is the UBTECH I would actually put on a short list for carton cells — ahead of C1, ahead of U1, and in a different conversation from Walker S. S walks. Y1 works on wheels. If your aisle is flat and your SKU is a tote, start here and make them prove changeover time. If you need a 15 kg reach in a 0.8 m aisle, that is S2’s published claim, not Y1’s.

Who should consider it / who should avoid it
Consider Y1 if you have flat industrial floors, tote/carton work, and an integrator who will own the scheduler. Avoid it if you need stairs, a published payload number, or a biped for a press shot.
